And, of course, dinner at Cumpa Cosimo with Miss Netta!  If you stop by in the afternoon while she is putting together the evening's menu, she might even ask you in for a limoncello or three!  Jeff and I had so many with her, I wasn't sure we'd make it back for dinner...but we managed!  Thank you Tony Campanile for making our day in Amulfi Coast so fantastico!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Call me a hopeless romantic, but my absolute favorite day of the year is Valentine's Day!  Champagne, Chocolate, Roses and 100+ renditions of "My Funny Valentine" playing all day and night, from Frank Sinatra to Chaka Khan, Miles Davis, Rap and everything in between. Need I say more about Valentine's Day at our house?

We start the day with Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Chocolate Waffles and Champagne. Gentlemen, don't forget the roses and the little blue box!

Light Hors d'oeuvres...and more bubbles, of course!

Then, may I recommend the Chateaubriand for Two for a nice romantic dinner to complete the perfect Valentine's Day of culinary delights!

January Doldrums?

My favorite lunch in the West Indies, Tuna Nicoise at "La Case de l'Isle" at Cheval Blanc's Hotel Isle de France.  This wonderful spot is on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean facing Flamands Bay...charming and sophisticated, yet low-key and relaxed.  Enjoy a fabulous lunch and cool dip in the seafront pool.  January Doldrums?  I think not!  Tres Fantastique!

It's Harvest Season!

Autumn has arrived and with that, comes the close of the grape harvest season.  Harvesting is the most important and crucial element of good winemaking and good wine is the crucial to great wine drinking!  Most harvesting (north of the equator) begins as early as late summer with some late harvest wine grapes ripening through the end of October.  One of my favorite wines of Tuscany, comes from Marchesi Antinori..."Tignanello," the first Sangiovese to be aged in oak barrels and blended with Cabernet Sauvignon.  We had the great pleasure of spending a little time with the barrels of Antinori and tasting more of their great wines.

One of the most beautiful wineries in all the world.  Marchesi Antinori, Tuscany, Italia.

Jeff and Marcello inspected the vines and the bottles, and afterwards, we were invited for a great tasting, and most incredible 6 course lunch.  Halfway through Jeff was wondering how much this lovely lunch was going to cost, and naturally, I had no idea.  Let me just say, that it was perhaps one of the most incredible lunches, served with the most magnificent wines of Tuscany...and... the most expensive meal we have ever had...a once in a lifetime experience!

Antinori joined the winemakers guild in 1385 and produces a multitude of wine varieties, from it's light and crisp "Villa Antinori Bianco" (Pinot Grigio dominant) to its well-known "Peppoli" (Chianti) and rich Pian delle Vigne (Brunello), Marchesi Antinori has a flavor for every palate.

The Terrace at Sweet Basil in Vail Village. My favorite lunch in the Valley!

When Jeff and I are in the Vail Valley, Sweet Basil is a weekly visit.  Right in the heart of Vail Village, this fabulous spot is not only beautiful, the food is amazing.  We love the wine list and coffee lover that I am, to finish with a Sweet Basil Cappuccino is simply divine.  And, when I am in the mood for sheer decadence for lunch...truffle french fries and Rose' Champagne by the glass.
